India attempts to stop a new wave from spreading around the nation as Covid-19 is reemerging as a global menace. This includes resuming previous standards like random testing at airports.

New Delhi: The country’s health minister said in an interview with NewsX on Friday that India plans to make a COVID-19 negative test report mandatory for passengers arriving from countries with a high number of cases.
Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated that “chosen countries would be identified in the coming week where the caseload is larger now.” “Those who travel to India from there must first upload their (COVID-19) RT-PCR reports.
In numerous nations, including China, Japan, South Korea, the US, France, Greece, and Italy, COVID-19 cases have suddenly increased.
India attempts to stop a new wave from spreading around the nation as Covid is reemerging as a global menace. This includes resuming previous standards like random testing at airports.
India, which has reported the second-highest number of COVID cases in the world so far, will begin randomly testing 2% of foreign travellers entering at its airports for COVID-19, Mandaviya said the parliament on Thursday.
If a traveller tests positive, the airport authority will share a copy of the positive report with the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme. They will then distribute to the respective State or Union Territory (UT) for further action.
The Center released new airport travel policies for visitors from abroad, which include random Covid tests for a certain number of passengers in a particular flight.
“The airport operators would create necessary infrastructure to facilitate random testing of international arriving passengers at their respective airports,” the communication said.
The Union Health Ministry approved Bharat Biotech’s intranasal Covid vaccine as a booster dose for anyone 18 years of age and above, and likely to introduce on the Co-WIN platform Friday evening, according to official sources.
Adults who have already received two doses of either Covishield or Covaxin can receive the needle-free vaccine as a preventative dose at private hospitals as of right now.
